How do you know how many days are in a particular month?
A colleague says she never learned the English months (she's from Iran). I use the rhyme. I always assumed everybody uses the rhyme, but I just learned it's possible to count the months on your knuckles and never bother with the rhyme. Are there other methods I'm missing?

Heh.
Ahem - what's this knuckle method?
I could never remember the rhyme or the knuckle thing.
That is what the calendar was made for right?
all the rest have 31, except for february
And, the knuckles on your hands...ignoring the thumbs, and starting with your pinky, all the 'hills' have 31 days and all the 'valleys' have not-31 days.
Take your fist, and count one month for each knuckle and valley on your fist. counttwice for the ending Knuckle, for July and August. The knuckles represent 31 day months, and the valleys represent short months, all 30 days except February.
So if these ^ are your knuckles and these - are the "valleys" between your knuckles, you would count JFMAMJJASOND like this on either fist.

JFMAMJJ
DNOSA
I'm a knuckle person. I never managed to memorize the rhyme.
